Good Evening-
It is time that I pass Alfred's Library on to the next deserving coffee
aficionado. I have read most of these and found them at time entertaining,
informative, or annoying depending on the topic. This tradition started a
couple of years ago and the history is in an email presented below that
Brett sent out over a year ago.
I have the following books that were part of the original library:
         "The Perfect Cup" - 1991
"Coffee, A guide to Buying, Brewing, and Enjoying." 2001
           "Espresso - Ultimate Coffee" 1993
"Buzz, The Science and Lore of Alcohol and Caffeine" 1996
            "Home Coffee Roasting" 1996
"Coffee, It's History, Classification and Description" from
1894!
To this I will add the following from my own library:
"The Coffee Book" Nina Luttinger and Gregory Dicum,
2006 (autographed)
"Home Coffee Roasting" Kenneth Davids, 2003 Revised and updated
edition
"Coffee, A Dark History" Anthony Wild, 2005.
Here's how this will work. You guess the weight of the turkey we're cooking
on Thanksgiving. Closest guess wins and I ship the books to that person. In
case of a tie, a random drawing will determine the winner. All I'll tell you
is that there will be more than two people, fewer than 50, and we're only
cooking one turkey. Please email me off list if you're interested. Entries
must be received by 5 PM Pacific Time on Monday Nov 26 (to give folks
traveling over the holiday a chance). A winner will be chosen that evening.
The other catch is that you've got to pass the library on back to the list
via another tradition when you've had time to absorb the information. Don't
worry, someone will remind you.
Good Luck
Demian

HI Dan and all,
Alfred was an early member of this family, offering tremendous wit, wisdom,
and coffee info. He passed away a couple years ago, and his family made
several of his coffee items available. In this context is the following
email...
<Snip>
Many on list had great times with Alfred, and he is missed today. I was one
of the recipients of the library, and treasured it! I also received an
additional gift from the previous holder of the library, a bar of "coffee"
soap...
Dan, thanks for continuing Alfred's Library Tradition...
Regards,
Brett
