Ok here goes my 2 cents worth....

Personally I am a VERY Loyal customer and SM is my site of choice. I
will always go to SM's first if they do not have what I am looking for
then I will seek out the council of the list and get what I need from
another source. Tom promotes some of the links that come up here on his
site, since they do not compete with him and will lead to more sales for
Tom in the long run. He carries a limited selection of Thor Tampers and
Les refers people to SM's from his site. If you are looking for a Heat
Gun I don't think they is anything wrong with putting up a link to one
you found because you still need to have the greens to roast right?
What I actually started with was a popper that I got then
bought beans from Tom after reading what Tom wrote about how easy it
was, I then moved on to HG/DB (not bought from SM's but my beans were)
Tom has a page that refers people to RK Drums this is from
the site...
Ron Kyle has taken it a step further.
He came up with a drum design for a Barbecue Drum Roaster
and now he will make one for you! I have cupped
the results of his roaster and, especially the medium City+ roasts he
sent me, are excellent.

Therefore, in conclusion if it is coffee roasting related I honestly do
not see a problem with a link in a post as long as it is not a rival for
Tom's site. Remember if in doubt just ask them first...
All of this is of course IMHO and as always YMMV...
