The manual states, in big bloody red print 'do not use outdoors'. I hope it
simply means that the roaster is not moisture proof. I want to use this
device to roast 1lb of dry process coffee and there's just too much smoke
from all that chaff to do this indoors. Yeah, flame is another concern with
all that chaff I guess. I can't help it, I am finding most coffee in my
stash is dry process!

Yeah, most electrical appliances don't work well deluged in water. Common
sense applies here. FWIW Joe roasted all day outdoors during PNWG V
demonstrating the Behmor...

Well I can't claim to have a ton of common sense, but I can claim a hundred
lbs of dry process coffee! I think I shall test this out today. It's a
balmy 30 F outside ;)

I roasted 2lb Brazil Cerrado yesterday in 20 degree weather - in a
BBQ/Drum.... Came out great - this winter we'll be fine. I do plan to do a
roast on the coldest day I can find, maybe at 10below - just to see how it
goes....
Balmy 30 sounds pretty good right now - it's 16 here in the cornfields...
