To open, WOW. I roasted this coffee to, according to cracks is Vienna, but I think I hit more realistically FC+. Before the grind, the coffee had a distinct spicy scent to it, which was my first indication that I would really like it. Coming out of the grinder, the spice was enhanced, the aroma almost too strong to process--overwhelming. So I poured it into my AP and brewed a nice short 10-20 second batch right off the boil. The aroma of the cup hot almost got me worried, there was a very powerful black pepper aroma that didn't seem it would be good in the cup. Well, the drink was actually wonderful. A bunch of caramel sweetness in the cup complemented the spiced and earthy tones in the aroma. It was like a spicy Sumatra Mandelhing. Yummy!
Awesome stuff! I cannot believe it is still in stock! Thankfully, the Behmor arrived with another pound of it. Eddie -- Vita non est vivere sed valere vita est Roasting Blog and Profiles for the Gene Cafehttp://southcoastcoffeeroaster.blogspot.com/On Nov 30, 2007 7:04 PM, Steve wrote: <Snip>
I have some to try tonight (working the midnight to 7 am shift, so we are slower and there is plenty of time for tasting and sampling) and am looking forward to doing so! -Bry Bryan Wray NaDean's Coffee Place Kalamazoo, MI "It is my hope that people realize that coffee is more than just a caffeine delivery service, it can be a culinary art"- Chris Owens. --------------------------------- Be a better sports nut!
