Since we're having a coffee beverage discussion (a drink where coffee
is the principal flavor or ingredient), I'll offer one I particularly
like: Ginger coffee.
Get fresh ginger root and cut it in chunks.
Put chucks in boiling water and turn heat down to a very slow simmer
(or less) and steep for 20 minutes to two hours. (I turn off the heat
at this point and let the ginger cool naturally, over night, or for
several hours, lid on.)
Use this ginger-infused water to brew your coffee. TASTY stuff!
I got the idea from an Indonesian friend who made very gritty coffee
highly flavored with ginger. One way to do it is to put the ginger
chunks in your tea kettle (the one you use for heating FP water) and
leave them there; each day a little different...
