Ok, in most unKurmudgeonly fashion I've already replied to a couple "empty"
entries reminding them to Read The Frackin' Directions! IT WILL NOT HAPPEN
AGAIN! My tolerance and time to waste for laziness/stupdity has reached it's
end.

I would not be surprised to see more failures to read and understand the
directions.

Here's what I'm feeling.
It's counter to the spirit of the tradition of The Tradition to offer
something FOR tradition and then call people stupid and lazy and tell them
to RTFD if they jack it up and tell them how little time you have to manage
this, etc. I hope you treat your customers better in your cafe when they
f*** up their orders. You're a busy busy man, chasing his dream, and your
passion for coffee is unequalled, or likely unequalled, your knowledge vast
and respected, but dude, much like many that are at the top of whatever game
they play, you could use some people skills.
That's what I'm feeling. Feel free to withdraw my name from consideration
if you choose. I did read the directions ;)
Respectfully,
Floyd

miKe,
You explained it perfectly the first time. You should just do what you said
and those of us that CAN follow directions will have a better chance.  ;>}

I was going to say "if the shoe fits where it" but the shoe didn't fit and
chose to where it anyway.

Yes I could have and rightly should simply deleted invalid entries. Yet I
didn't and a few people re-entered because of it.

If you really feel that strongly ask to be withdrawn, don't lay it on me, it
ain't my problem!

Yeah, so big deal I've been puttin' in 80+ hour weeks for many weeks without
a single day off by choice following a dream. I'm not complaining. Like I
said, by my choice. If I'm a bit short of tolerance when even with reminders
it's too much effort for some to follow simple directions, yet I really want
all to have the opportunity to enter as I always have, I don't apologize. By
not following directions it says to me they consider their time is too
valuable to bother reading the directions.

All feelings are valid, logical or not.

Let's also not lose sight of the fact that there were reasons behind the
rules of the offering. Mike is trying to maintain his own "traditional"
offer to the list. Yet he must strike a balance between his newly very
heavy workload and Christmas shipping considerations. He has a very
small window to work with here. Those who take offense always have the
option to ignore.

Wow... someone offers a tradition, with a few simple rules.... not even
new rules really... most of the traditions entries are taken off list
anyways. and someone else wants to bitch about it.
But it's the rest of the worlds fault someone is either incapable of
reading the simple rules, or just didnt bother... right? :::shrug:::
I said before and Ill say again, if you don't like the way someone did a
tradition, then show us how it's done and do one of your own. Time to
put the money where the mouth is.

"80+ hour weeks"
I HEAR THAT ONE! The first week that Dino's was open I put a 142 hour work week! (There were some 24-36 hour "days"). But hey, I feel like there is a pretty well trained staff at Dino's now... so, you do what you have to sometimes right?

As a former small-time editor, I'm an inveterate rewriter of many
things. I hope my rewriting miKe's Christmas Tradition 2007
instructions did not cause offense. If so, I apologize. No criticism
or other offense was intended.
