Lynne,
I am sorry to hear of your dog's injuries and I hope that he comes =
through the surgery OK. At the risk of sounding crass, be sure to file =
a police report about this incident. A vicious dog like that should not =
be allowed to run freely. Next time it could be someone's child. (I =
have pets and I know they are like our children, but there is a =
difference.) I have friends who have bull terriers and if properly =
raised and trained, they can be gentle loving dogs, so the real fault =
lies with the owner. If the owner does not immediately offer to pay for =
your dog's vet bills and recovery, file a suit in small claims court. =
Maybe if this dog's actions cost the owner some money, she will be more =
careful about its actions. I know that it is desirable to live in =
harmony with the neighbors, so you may not want to escalate the =
situation, but remember, her dog is the one who broke the harmony.
I know that right now the most important thing to you is your dog =
getting well, but these other factors have to be addressed. Sorry for =
being so curmudgeonly.

Mike -
Believe me, I will do all if necessary. Just need to get through the next
few days. Don't worry - I don't care about being nice. I just want to focus
on keeping Sammy well.
This landlord is a jerk, and, by letting this woman have a pit bull in his
apartment, he is risking losing everything. They don't let the dog run w/out
a leash outside the yard - but what if a kid came wandering in, for any
reason? What stupid idiots...it's just the same if they had some loaded guns
lying around.
Didn't know until just a few minutes ago that the dog was on a leash &
lunged at my son (not the one who was with me this morning).
Anyway, I'm still a wreck. Made some granola (my kid was laughing at me -
hey, this is how I de-stress), and I'm going to roast some coffee soon. Just
need to take my mind off of this. Kept blaming myself for not taking them
out on a leash for a walk, instead.
You know, he (first time he ever did this) didn't want to come out the door.
Swear he knew something awful was ahead of him...
Oh yeah, snow is falling fast. Boston has just about closed down. We are
getting a bad storm...
