Topic: PLEASE Don't Yell "Fire" -Was Re: +Fires in Behmor Was -Behmor profiles (30 lines)

My fire occurred on Nov. 20th, the day I got it. I didn't post about it
because I didn't want to start a stampede of people yelling "fire". My
situation was one in a million. There was a pencil size hole in one end
of the drum which allowed some beans to drop out and pile up in one
area. It was a manufacturing defect, and no fault of the roaster or it's
design.
The only reason I posted yesterday is because someone said they hit the
cool button when they saw some chaff catch fire, and the fire went out.
I wanted to point out that that could be dangerous. Seeing how the
Behmor responded makes me feel much I am much safer now, not less. You
can't simply turn the power off to stop a fire in a popcorn popper,
Fresh Roast, or many other home roasting methods like stove top. And
they don't have a mechanism to automatically turn them off if they get
too hot, even if you're not there. To my knowledge this is by far the
safest low cost roaster on the market.
Let's please not yell fire, so to speak, where there is none. We don't
need people stampeding out of the theater, and Joe certainly doesn't
deserve it.
