Topic: OT: Sammy-Dog Update, Was: +OT: my dog got attacked... need to share (3 msgs / 71 lines)
1) From: Lynne
I want to let everyone know that Sammy is doing great. I took him for a
little walk (my son shoveled a spot under some tall bushes out front, so he
can go to the bathroom away from the spot where he was attacked).
Thanks for all prayers from all faiths, human, canine, feline & other -
little Sammy sends his thanks, too.
I'm so exhausted - and really frazzled. Didn't even realize it til I just
sat down at the computer. It took me forever to go to sleep - kept having
flashbacks last night. I finally did sleep, and so did Sammy. Emma was so
cute - she actually did all she could to get as close to him as she could at
bedtime - her head is half the size of his body! I was concerned that she
might accidentally hurt him, so I had to try to keep her away. Guess there's
a strong bond there!
Also - there is a logic to my 'understanding' about the landlord & his
'friend' who has the pitbull. Guess I've have had more than my share of
difficulties for awhile - I knew that it wouldn't take too much yesterday
for me to lose it all, and I HAD to stay composed.
The other reason is the fact that I know these people - if I went about this
the wrong way, they might very well retaliate. Despite my careful words
yesterday, I don't like them - they are NOT nice people. They're the type
who could very well leave poison around - don't even want to think of it.
My son said we need to start to plan to find another place, and I agree.
Don't know how we'll do it, but the crucial thing is to plan, rather than
move impulsively as I did before. (A friend of mine offered to have us move
in with her, but she is elderly w/a cat - I've got three dogs and two young
sons - it just wouldn't work...)
Anyway, can't thank all of you individually - yet - but I'm sending a big
hug to all. You don't know how much this has helped me.

So happy to hear that Sammy is doing so well. I know if he feels
better, you will too!

I agree 100%. This was one of the points I was trying to make yesterday.
You need to document exactly what happened, otherwise it is just your word
against his. (If it should later become necessary to take further action)
Also, this dog may already have a record and be on his "last strike."
