Well, this morning was truly the best coffee experience.
On Tuesday evening I roasted my last 8 ounces of last years crop of Idido
Misty Valley on P2 in the Behmor to a Full City roast. (I guess this was
my first roast of 2008) I was good and waited yesterday, today I couldn't
restrain myself and pulled a double espresso at 93 deg C. OH MY!!! It was
absolutely awe inspiring. Fruity, lots of blueberry, sweet and not a hint
of acidity. Everything that I have heard and read about IMV that is good
was in that shot of espresso. I don't know if it was the Behmor roast, or
pulling shots instead of using the Aero Press since it was the first for
both of those but I was nearly bouncing up and down I was so thrilled.
I wanted to share it with Anita my wife but she was sick and not awake
yet. I told Meg our border collie about it and she was happy for me but
didn't really care what it was I was happy about. The only thing to do was
try again! This time I pulled a couple of doubles and made them into
Americano's for my morning at work. I am currently enjoying this from a
thermos and the flavours keep amazing me. The fruity, blueberry flavour
just keeps going and going.
I am sharing it all with you because who else could appreciate my good
fortune? I certainly hope that the next few days will bring equal delight
as the IMV ages and then runs out. Thankfully I have 10 pounds of this
years crop vac packed and in the freezer waiting.
Cheers
Scott Petersen

Thanks Scott,
Alas I said good-bye to the last of my Misty Valley on Dec. 26th. However
in scrounging through the stash I found 5 pounds of last year's Panama Gesha
that I forgot was in the "Do Not Touch" drawer until I had reached set
level of stash reduction. Knowing there are special coffees in a "Do Not
Touch" drawer until the stash level is at a proper level is a good motivator
for me.

I am impressed. What discipline. If I had a do not touch drawer it would be
the first place I would go to. I can hear myself now. Today is a special
day, because the sun rose, so lets see what is in the special drawer

Yes, I know what you mean .... Emma, *my* border collie would also be happy
for me - but she'd try to steal my cup, too (all my conversations with her
about
how toxic coffee is for dogs would be wasted, I'm sure...)

(listening to "El Negro Zunbon" by Pink Martini, and imagining blueberries
rising
from an espresso cup... mmm)
