As Phil said in a recent post it has "unusual flavors"! Like Phil they
were new taste to me in their strength.
May I public THANK 'Farmers Best Coffee' roaster, Ed Bourgeois for having
his wonderful gift drawings this past month. Really made the holidays.
'Farmers Best Coffee' Ethiopian Idido Misty Valley was perfectly roasted..
I have been having this as my morning cup of espresso for the last 4 days.
I really loved it for my first cup, very clean - fresh tasting with still
that lovely mouth feel. I brewed as espresso with the Astra GA.
When I opened the package and deeply inhaled there were dried apricots mixed
with pineapple. It 'really did' have the dry fruit smell, it wasn't just me
trying to get it to have that smell. 'Cool' -
Then ground the smell changed to more of a grilled pineapple.
As it poured the crema was very heavy from the start with those little
circles of tiger tail spinning around the stream, very pretty to watch.
Almost didn't cut it off in time because I hated to give up staring. It
really worked well with the foamed milk setting on top clear to the bottom
of the cup (which I lingered over).
There was a new taste or maybe sensation that just sort of went past my
reach. The first sip stretches long over the tongue, with out too much of
that tingle I often get from say a Costa Rica.. Made you reach out with
your taste buds to try and recover it. Yummy as it got sweeter / malty
while it worked in there.
As it got cold there was a tiny bit of savory / sweet basil in the finish.
Best Part was the after taste of Butterfinger candy bar even to that bit of
chocolate covering. I think you could brew it up in any way you wanted.
Also don't think you could find a bitter note unless you boiled it.
All and all I really had fun with this coffee. It was by far the most
complicated coffee I have drank in a while. Glad I ordered some green
before Tom ran out. Just hope my roast comes some where near Ed Bourgeois.
God Blessed us with taste buds just for this!

I also should have posted my review of this coffee and with all the job/vehicle business that had been going on just never got around to it.
So...
Wow. There was so much more fruit in this one than in my own personal roast. I didn't really like it as a SO espresso, to be honest, it was just a little light for my taste and it was just a little overwhelming. But I tried it in a FP and it was gone within 2 days past that. Minus the butterfinger (wish I could have gotten some of that!) taste, my notes were right on with Treshel's (by the way, grilled pineapple is a new one for me, but it helps me take care of a '?' I had in my notes). It was truly an awesome blend and I am now out to try to duplicate it on some of my roasts, but I haven't had fruit like that on 10 different IMV roasts so far, so...
Thanks again, it was great!
