As happened with the Giant Trosser grinder, I became enamored of the sharpening machine that Ray refers to below, and couldn't help myself. I ordered it. Notice that, in Ray's words, it is a "full size machine". Well, Ray wasn't kidding. I just received word that the sharpener was shipped. Here is a fragment of the notice: Weight: 11.0 LBS Now THAT is a sharpening machine! When it arrives, I can give it a place of honor next to the excellent 20-pound hand grinder I never use! Brian PS: Alchemist, don't look at this sharpener! On Dec 30, 2007 12:15 PM, ray wrote: <Snip>

Aaaaaaa take it easy on your self Brian you will be a hero to all the gals in your neighborhood, and your mom and wife as the man that can relay sharpen knifes! Get a hold of me in an e- mail and ill give you my secrets to using it and sharpening different types of blades. It's actually a fun machine to use and real hard to screw anything up that can't be fixed and you can make a knife sharper than you ever had before and easier to maintain it with just a steel for months before you have to do it again. The secret of the machine is maintaining the proper angles of the blade and it takes care of that by the nature of how it sharpens the blade.
Ray, Thank you for your very kind offer of assistance when the Giant Sharpener arrives. I will gratefully take you up on your offer, I am sure. One example: I have a "lopper" for trimming branches that has a curved blade that might be challenging. Brian On Jan 11, 2008 11:41 PM, ray wrote: <Snip>
The short answer is: NOPE I have sharpened my loppers and they are a curved blade on one side and a stiff fixed blade on the other got the blade razor sharp made life a lot easier trimming trees and hedges it's no challenge at all for the machine. I also made up some diamond honing stones for the thing it comes with an extra jig for adding stones of any grit you want to the diamond is great for real tough things to sharpen like the Titanium skin diving knife I did for a friend, talk about holed an edge!
