This evening before giving the Linea her daily detergent back flushing was
tweaking the AV for the main pull setting. Wham, almost knocked off my feed.
I was stunned and speechless. The heaven's parted as an angelic chorus was
heard. Unexpectedly got hit with my sixth lifetime GodShot. Hadn't intended
to quaff the shot but one smell, then one sip and there was NO WAY it was
going anywhere but my palate. A couple minutes later stupidly pulled
another. While a very good shot, it destroyed the magnificent linger of the
previous pull. Oh well. I'll just have to settle for outstanding or
excellent or simply damn good until the heavens align again.
FWIW it happened to occur with my Ohana blend at 12 days rest. Further FWIW
this was my first Ohana GodShot. Using Synesso 18gr sloped "light" triple
basket pulled nekkid (all our Kafe shots pulled nekkid), 2.75oz total inc
copious tigered crema pulled into ACF Nero ristretto demi, 202.5f brew
boiler, with button 2 programmed pre-infusion.
Had some stellar shots of IMV the last three days but no GodShots. (IMV was
the featured SO option, mid-morning today alloted IMV ran out and switched
to Guatemala San Jose Ocana.)
NOTE: rest equals into valve bags after all blend components roasted and
mixed. Valve bags heat sealed then vacuumed hard pack. (Vacuum pulls out
throught he one-way valve.) Degassing releases CO2 puffing the valve bags
protecting the beans and providing wonderful "bag squeeze". :-)

Warning Les possible spew alert.
Achieving a G-d shot has got to be The greatest Zen experience. It's kind of
what The Buddha said to the hot dog vendor. "Make me one with everything"
By the way the Guatemala ocana is one of my all time favorites as a brewed
coffee. Have had little success pulling it as a SO shot. My hat is off to
you.

Hi Mike,
Can I ask what you use to vacuum 'seal' your bags?
I also heat seal mine, but would like to do as you do and vacuum all the
remaining air from them before shipping.

The beauty and the paradox of a GodShot to me is a particular level of shot
can only be a GodShot once. After doing some roasting early this morning
spent most of the day at the Kafe working on "stuff" today. Mid afternoon
had a hankerin' for shot of Ohana, even though that meant detergent
backflushing that group again so she'd be pristine for Monday morning! And
vac'ing out the grinder. Been having weather changes plus decided not to
bother with the hopper and the first shot ran a fast 20sec. One smell and
dumped it (sour). Adjusted grind tighter and duh, placed a tamper in the
Major's throat to weight the beans. Adjustment plus weight too much and ran
long, not too long but dumped it again. Nailed number three, I swear
everything that GodShot was a few days ago. But now it's the targeted norm
and not a GodShot!
Of course while fiddling with scooping Ohana out of the vac bag missed the
counter setting it down just before that 3rd shot and dumped a good half
pound beans bouncing all over. Cleaned up the mess AFTER pulling and
quaffing that shot:-)
Looking forward to a 9am-11am Yellow Freight window tomorrow!
