Thanks to all for the response to my posting.  There was no gasket 
problem here.  A stalled pot was the devil's own to disassemble. Serious 
vacuum!  The "Dove jar" is a quart Mason jar with a mesh insert.  Eddie 
can give you the number of the mesh.  The Erlenmeyer flask reference was 
my reverting to my (retired) scientist mode.  It is a glass vessel named 
after the inventor, Erlenmeyer, and is no way suitable for coffee 
sifting.  Interesting about the Cory grinder.  However, no more coffee 
toys in this household.  Just too tempting.  Bernard

The screen was cut to fit into the top of a wide-mouth mason jar band
and was received via the generosity of Doug Boutell.  The writing on
the screen was:  35 X 35 X .010 - which I understand to mean, 35
vertical wires per inch, 35 horizontal wires per inch and the gauge of
those wires is .010 of an inch.
