Topic: antioxidant coffee (14 msgs / 229 lines)
1) From: Kris Bhatti
I was at the local farmers' market this morning and saw a booth set up selling coffee for the first time. The company is called The Bean Coffee Company and their coffee is advertised as being special because it has added antioxidants. Their special top-secret patented method involves soaking the green beans in something that extracts the CGA antioxidants, then they roast the beans and add the CGA back to the roasted beans. Sounds like a gimmick to me. The little cup of coffee I tasted was nice enough, but this seems like a lot of extra processing just to put some health benefit claims on the package. The guy manning the stall was interested in talking to me at first, then I said I was a homeroaster. I was very polite and didn't try to sound superior or anything, but this guy obviously knew less than I do about roasting and I don't know all that much. It was kind of funny to see how he lost interest in chatting once it became obvious that I wasn't
going to be buying anything from him. So, is this fancy antioxidant coffee really anything special or is it just another gimmick, playing off the desires of people to get healthy without actually doing anything?

I have some antioxidant espresso cups for sale - four for $5.
Now these look a lot like the stainless steel "dipping" cups I can get at
the dollar store.
But there are no oxidants in the cup - and you can get them for 4/$5 or
12/$25 on special.
Please contact me offlist!
No roasting required!

Kris,
Follow your gut instinct. That booth persons body language says most of what
you need to know. Gimmick or worse yet a market scam. Hardly worth your
time. Either way the booth next to him may have more substance. Walk on.

any other time i want. i have survived two years with Pancreatic
cancer. if i were gamboling in a Casino i would now own it. that is an
idea how much the odds have been in my favor. for which i thank God.

John here in Tucson Az. don't know what this has to do with coffee other
than the pilots and crews drink coffee. there are Black helicopters
stationed here at Davis Monthan air base. they are from a Sea Air
Rescue sqd. when i was working i sometime would be called to their
building to repair something or install something new.
so i no for a fact they do drink coffee. and the machine guns they have
for the choppers are mini guns in the 223 caliber. that tidbit of info
from when i installed a new 10 inch grinder for them.

That's one hell of a coffee grinder, especially for a chopper. Those
guys really love their java!
