Topic: HotTop... Worth the Upgrade Cost (48 lines)

I roasted the last of my 4-'05 (maybe late '04?) Bolivia Organic Cenaproc
"Peaberry" in the Fresh Roast early this morning. Advanced disorganization
resulted in my letting it get just a few snaps into Second, before I
realized the fan was hopelessly buried.
No City+ for this guy. Prior Planning... Grrr. It's real coffee, though,
from our cozy Blivet*.
*Blivet - had to leave the Beseler 23CII, gobs of Edith's paintings, 100's
of 33-1/3 LP's, practice organ, Doorbell**, But I got the Good Stuff- 3
Topcon cameras and all the coffee stuff!
**Don't ask-
Too much history with the Revox tape deck and Empire turntable, and I got
the 80mm El- Nikor- I'll get another enlarger. Even this large 1 br
apartment reminds me of *The Pit and the Pendulum*... And the walls are
closing in fast. My Celtic Critic honey and I almost had to draw straws with
all of her sewing machines and fabric stash.
I was evaluating the pros and cons of the Hotpop, and using the median
advertised price, the H'top costs $2,816/ Kg capacity.
If you extrapolate, it would cost $28Big for 10 Kilos capacity-
The 44 H'tops would weigh 900 pounds-
require 33 Kw of electric power-
They could run on 22 separate electric circuits, and some Master of Disaster
might try to do it. More better would be a separate circuit for each
roaster, damn the expense. Pay now or PAY Later!
Compared to the B&FE that passes about 180 yards from here, my Lionel train
set looked real and ran quietly back in the day. But it was just a fancy
toy.
The Bottom Line is- if you like roasting with the machine, what more is
there to discuss?
Cheers, Mabuhay -RayO, aka Opa!
Got Grinder?
