Topic: Stuck Steam Knob on Silvia (4 msgs / 47 lines)
1) From: Dan Comfort
I just got a Silvia from Sweet Maria's and I've managed to get the
steam valve stuck in the open position. Here's what I've done:
1. Turned the black plastic knob hard enough to strip the inside of it
where attaches to the interior metal shaft.
2. Attempted to turn the shaft with pliers. No luck.
Is there any magic that I can apply to get it closed?
Thanks in advance,
Dan

Soak with KROIL follow with well tightened Vise Grip pliers.

A little WD40 and my vise grip pliers worked, with just a little
scuffing of that shaft. Thanks Paul!

You are welcome Dan. Glad it worked and sorry you scuffed the shaft, but
it'll be hidden by the new knob.
Now that it is moving again, see if you can dismantle the valve and clean
it. Reassemble with a dab of plumber's waterproof grease (cheap at any
plumbing supply) on the moving parts especially the threads.
