I just got my GC back from Tim. It had the "usual" issue: never getting much above 450, wildly fluctuating temps; stop me if you've heard this one.
Anyway, I boxed the sucker up and shipped it to faraway Utah (for the benefit of those weaker constitutions, I draw the veil across the incredible hardships we endured making do in the interim with our old FreshRoast 8). Tim had it for a couple of weeks (a longer turnaround than usual, I understand: he was waiting for parts). I got it back; it works fine (I'm still alarmed by some of the fluctuating temps, though they may be due to the frigid weather we're having here--it's dropped into the 50s outside while I'm roasting). Tim wouldn't let me pay for the repairs, even though the machine is out of warranty by a good 6 months.
In short, the fine service and courtesy I received from Tim more than made up for the disappointment of having to have work done on a year-&-1/2-old roaster (and the brutal privations suffered whilst roaster was in exile).
