Topic: Snow Day! (4 msgs / 157 lines)
1) From: David Rossell
The only thing finer than a snow day is a snow day with a kitchen smelling of
fresh scones and roasting coffee. Freezing rain outside, Loreena McKennit on
the iPod, and a mug of syrupy Kenya Giakanja in my hand. Fresh out of the
presspot it was like drinking hot chocolate. As it's cooled the chocolate
has receeded, overlaid with some tannins, maybe currants, too. Sort of the
difference between a Lindt 80 % cacao and a Sharfenberger 82 %.
Days like this are why I work in education . . .

And days like this I'm glad I'm a student (albeit an old one here, ha)!
There was very little snow earlier (not that I cared - the cancellation
saved me from walking to school for my class), but now I'm watching the snow
fall fast, as I type this. Beautiful!
I was able to roast a small portion of Guatemala Frajanes on Wednesday,
being careful to air out the house during & after - woo-hoo! No seizure for
Emma!)
Unfortunately mine still didn't turn out as poetic as yours. In fact, except
for the first cup, it's turning out to be almost as bad as my IR2 attempts
outside. I think I must have made the java gods angry at some point, and am
now paying for it.
At least I can enjoy the beautiful weather, though.
Thanks, David, for sharing this with us. No scones here, just a big pot of
tomato sauce with lots of spicy Italian sausages cooking on the stove. But
what now I want is some of the syrupy Kenya!

Of course, everyone gets a snow day on my normal day off! Thanks for
sharing your experience! My "snow day" started with cupping 5 coffees,
drinking what I like to call "Central Remnants" (left over blend of
three Centrals), and tweaking my popper to roast some samples. Twas a
good day, no doubt.
