Tom-
I was buying coffee today and noted that you made some comment before
going to India last month about finding out more about Liberica beans.
Did you find out anything worth sharing for those of us interested? I
know some people were not fans, but I loved the coffee, and developed
some theories on how to roast it that gave some spectacular results. I
did some research on it and found out that liberica is grown and sold
locally in some markets in the Philippines and Malaysia, and is enjoyed
there, although I suspect the quality is not especially high, and they
have made little attempt to sell it to the export market. It has been
part of the commercial coffee scene in small quantities since the late
19th century, but always a minuscule part of the market. But this
suggests that an unmistakable cup of "Indian" coffee that I had in
Edinburgh (at a shop near George IV bridge) in 1990 was liberica! Never
thought I would experience that taste again.

Yes Yes share your roasting theories. I am planning on roasting some more
as soon as I get more used to "Bueford" (www.thortamper.com/usrc.html) I
really like the Liberica too.
