Topic: The Roasted Blog and a proposal (7 msgs / 174 lines)
1) From: Vicki Smith
The newish SM blog Tom set up to talk about the roasted beans he
provides http://www.sweetmariascoffee.com/roastmaster_blog/)isan
amazing piece of work. I've learned so much from it, even though
roasting in a Probat and roasting in a bread machine are, urmmm, different.
We have so many roasting folks using so many different kinds of
equipment. I am wondering if anyone would like to join in a project
shadowing Tom a bit and reporting on roasts of the same beans with
different roasting setups?
Most recently he has reported on Colombia Los Naranjos de Huila. I'd
love to know how our roasting community is doing on those beans.
My current budget and the time lapse in getting beans sent here would
keep my own participation somewhat minimal at this point, but if folks
were doing this, I sure would join in whenever I could.

Perhaps Tom could publish a schedule of upcoming roasts, so people can plan
ahead...

I would be interested in this also. I have been wanting to get more seriou=
s about roasting and just started recently taking notes on the roasts(this =
after about two years of roasting). I'm currently using an SC/TO and would=
love to know how others are doing there beans in this particular setup. A=
t the same time it would be nice to know how others are doing in other setu=
ps as well.

Well, I'm guessing that Tom would welcome roasting notes from other
people on the blog. Wouldn't it be cool though if he would do a sample
pack of the beans he has recently roasted or plans to roast for us to
play with :).

Perhaps a subscription that includes 1 lb of roasted coffee and 1 lb of
greens, so you can try it yourself. It could be a little monthly challenge.

I'd like that, but maybe half pound of roasted and more of green, since the
roasted is only for comparison; and I'd be wanting to try different
procedures.
