Back in march I got off of the list because we were moving to va and I had a big project to take care of. The project is over we are in MI and life is far less crazy so I am back. On topic, Got two coffees I am now crazy about first is the Indian tree dried natural. Roasted just before 2nd crack in my mind it is almost as good as the misty valley, smooth flavorful without being two bright. Second is the aged Sumatra, not something I would drink every day but roasted a bit into second crack but before the beans start to get oily it is a funky brooding cup with some strange flavors. I have also used this in an espresso blend (50% Malabar 25% aged Sumatra and 25% Harrar. What an interesting shot Anyway greetings from the snow David Homeroast mailing list Homeroasthttp://lists.sweetmariascoffee.com/listinfo.cgi/homeroast-sweetmariascoffee.com
Hi, David. Welcome back. Where are you in MI? Grand Rapids is home for me. I love the aged Sumatra. Thanks for the reminder; I need to roast some. David, Are you referring to the current aged sumatra that SM stocks "Aged Sumatra Grade One Lintong" or the previous one, "Aged Sumatra Mandheling - '04 Crop"? I'm almost out of '04 crop and I'm looking forward to trying the Lintong. I am referring to the previous offering the '04 crop. My next order (soon I hope) will include the grade one, if it is still available.
It is a great shop and the guy seems to know his stuff. I would love to be able to set up some sort of regular or semi regular gathering to try coffee and discuss ideas and techniques. I would guess any further discussion of the location could be viewed as commercial promotion. So if anyone in Michigan is interested in thinking this out more please contact me off list- isemingerfamily I went from 80 plus hours a week at the last project to working a bit part time and trying to finish a doctoral thesis, couple this with being highly caffeinated I would love to be able to put something like this together Happy roasting david
