Topic: First HotTop Batch (3 msgs / 62 lines)
1) From: John Haley
The new KN-8828P arrived at lunchtime today. Set it up and decided to roast
250g of the included *Moka Kadir Blend *since it would probably be the
easiest roast not to err on. I used the STD setting and then ejected the
roast just at the start of SC. It looks a bit lighter than my usual very
dark roast, but I'm trying to get into roasting lighter and getting more
individual flavor... the Misty Valley had a profound effect on my thinking
on this. Anyway, it was great to actually be able to hear the cracks so
clearly after over two years of using an iR2. I programmed in my first roast
profile after completing the roast and am looking forward to trying it on
some Kenya Peaberry tomorrow.

Congratulations, John! New toys are always fun.
Do let us know how the roast tastes.

my name isnt john, and i dont have a hottop, but ill reply anyway.. :)
of the roasts ive tried from one, they are always slightly lighter looking,
but bean color is much more consistent across a batch than other methods of
roasting ive used or sampled (SC/TO, FR+8, gene cafe).
