It is now early morning in the UK and I am awake at 2:30 in the morning because my sleep patterns are still messed up. So thought I would do a coffee update. My stash reduction blend of February 29 has not come along with a few days aging as I had hoped, in fact this is the first home roast I can remember that resting did not improve. Anyway, yesterday we were strolling around on High Street in Oxford and saw a small coffee and tea shop. Went in and I was surprised to see a selection of familiar names with a sample of the beans roasted to a range from city to Vienna displayed in little boxes with labels describing the characteristics of the coffees. One was a Nicaragua Pacamara. I munched one of the beans and asked for a half of a pound of it, the lady tending the store got down the box and found it empty and told me she was sorry but they were out. I then noticed an Aged Java Old Brown and munched a sample of one of the beans. I then noticed a sign that said all the
ns had been roasted on March 3, 2008 and were best used before March 17.
I'm starting to feel sleepy again so I am going back to bed and try to get some more sleep. I'll try a three day rested Old Brown in a few hours.
