Topic: New USRC roasting high & low (41 lines)

Today's 11 roast batches included new high and low production batch sizes.
Needed an LB Panama Gesha for an order and debated whether to do two tried
and true CCR HT batches or go for a little batch with the USRC 3k. If I
hadn't been doing other roasting wouldn't have made sense to pre-heat just
for an LB. Decided no time like the present. Why not do my first 1LB post
roast size batch with the most expensive coffee I've got! Why bother with a
trial run with a lessor bean! Roast went smooth as silk, no problem. After
doing all the needed SO's for shipping next up the 6 or 7 batches for Ohana.
(Had been doing 2 four pounders of the Brazil making it 7 batches of 20# 6
elements.) Since was in a go for it mood of course went for it though I had
previously done a couple trial 8# batches so wasn't really too concerned.
Again roast went without a hitch. Way cool.
I'm really liking not having to roast almost every single day of the week
starting early morning then off to the Kafe then more roasting in the late
evening! While the roaster cost a goodly penny (like over a million of
'em:-) doesn't cost much in fuel to run. Would you believe approxiately
Thirty CENTS worth of LPG per batch or about 4 cents a LB when doing max
size batches! Takes a wee bit of 'lectrical juice too of course for the
motors and electronics.
Off to check the pecan low & slow smoking corned beef aka now it's pastrami
I put on the Traeger early this morning before heading in to roast:-)
