Topic: What's in your cup today? (33 msgs / 579 lines)

It's 4 AM, and I'm drinking Moka Kadir in my KMB--roasted Saturday in
the HG/BM and, just as Tom recommended,--just a few snaps into 2nd by
the vanguard beans, which leaves "the lags" at city. I had not had this
coffee for awhile and forgot how wonderful it is when I get it right.
I start my Mondays doing case notes on the people I saw at the end of
the week/weekend (social worky type yanno), and I honestly couldn't do
it without good coffee.

Yirga Cheffe Konga roast 1 week ago to a City. French Pressed about 20
minutes ago... it's starting to cool and bring out the lemons. When it's
still hotter than warm, the acidity of the coffee is lemony, but it only
plays on the edges of the tongue. I have enough for one more cup of this,
which will probably go this morning!!! UPS is telling me that SM's roasted
Sidamo should be here this morning...
happy Monday everyone!!!

Kona roasted to a very nice city roast in the USRC half kilo roaster.
Brewed in the Techivorm on 2 days rest! Very nice cup of coffee. Smooth,
deep flavors that hint of Pine that Kona is so known for! I am down to two
pounds of Kona in the stash.

this week will be the Komodo Blend (decaf) roasted to
FC. Roasted on Friday afternoon, 1st cup this
morning and it is good (as usual). I find the Komodo
Blend to be very forgiving of my roasting errors, and
highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a
decaf with fruity flavors.

My last cup of the morning (barely still morning, anyway) is a Costa Rica
Dota with a shot of Glenmorangie 10, a bit of simple syrup, and frothed milk
"floated" on the top. Sorry, Sandy, not exactly "real" Irish coffee, but I
wasn't willing to whip cream, yet still have to celebrate St. Paddy's.
Pretty tasty, nonetheless.
Hopefully, if nothing else, I've made the both the coffee and malt drinkers
cringe a bit at the wanton beverage adulteration.

call it our "fix") before Roger the repairman gets here to tear the

Scots Coffee, huh? Don't feel bad--my Scots-Swiss husband celebrated
St. Pat's Day one year by watching "Braveheart" and conspicuously
ordering a Rob Roy at Lawry's The Prime Rib (now, that's living
dangerously). I had to wear green to atone, and I haven't a drop of
Irish blood in me. (My ancestors came from County Minsk, County
Cracow, and County Strasbourg).

"Breakfast For Lunch, St. Patrick's Day Style"
We had warm flour tortillas, into which was put scrambled eggs, sauted
onions, cheddar cheese, and GREEN food coloring, plus GREEN bacon
(secret food coloring trick prior to broiling) The boys loved it!
Encore? Harp's Lager in the fridge waiting for the evening...

Barely squeaking in to "morning" - I've got what I'm sure is a lovely Yirga
Cheffe Konga in my cup, roasted to C+ a week ago and brewed in the AP, but
it might as well be Maxwell House or plain hot water as I have a bad cold
and can't really taste or smell anything. I have a this cold along with the
baby and my husband. We've been suffering all weekend (and really what's
more pathetic than a baby with a cold?). The vector (my 3 year old)
however, is feeling just fine. No justice! When I sip the Konga I can just
barely get a hint of citrus in an otherwise flat and flavorless liquid.
*sigh*

Oh, yah-
It was Monday morning, wasn't it? A few minutes past now, but in deference
to Dwellers of the Other Side of the Date Line, I had a gorgeous double of
Ethiopian Harar Green Stripe last night.
Wala kong Pino, pero, I can wish.
I landed at Hickam on both tours enroute to Clark, so maybe there is some
connection with the '05 Moki's Farm Kona this morning, and the one I
finished just now.
Thanks to comments on the list, the next roast of Moki's Farm will terminate
in the 12 - 14 minute range when First is all gone but Second is a good
couple of minutes from the first snap in the Fresh Roast.
The grounds are quickly cleared from the gasket and shower screen when I do
a backflush on a loose filter handle. I get almost nothing with a terry
cloth and brush wipe down afterwards. The appearance of the hot water in a
white bowl when I do a blank after the quick back flush tells me it must be
Monday morning and it's due for some Go Joe, dishwasher detergent and/ or
Oxyclean.
