I had some of the Linton this morning after approximately 36 hours of rest.
It was good; flavorful, full bodied and with a rich aroma. Neither my
palate nor my olfactory senses are sophisticated enough to pick out the
various nuances of flavor and aromas that the connoisseurs here identify,
but it was almost as good as the coffee I get at my local coffee shop (not
as good as the triple Americanos with 1/2 the water I usually get, though).
Now I a convinced that I can roast a decent bean, I am committed to take
this to the next level. I just haven't decided whether that is to buy a good
grinder or roaster first. I would really rather have the roaster (Behmor or
GC), but I am seriously considering the advice I got here to get a decent
grinder first.
BTW - my wife says I'm obsessed, but I prefer to think of it as being
focused. (But, she did really enjoy the cup I brought her in bed this
morning.)
Thanks for all the help I have received here. You folks are a great bunch,
and I sincerely appreciate the advice and guidance you have volunteered.

Keep roastin'... :) When I manage to get it right now and again, it is ex=
ceptionally better than anything I've had even at the little local gourmet =
coffee shop/roasters.... =
I'm still learning so I haven't gotten consistency down, but it's jam good =
when I get it right...

Why is it that I am unable to see my own posts on this list?

Because you're using Gmail.... every week right now we have this
discussion. Brett will comment that it is great that it's free. Rich will
argue that you get what you pay for... ha ha ha. It's a quirk of Gmail and

Probably 90 % of our spouses have said we were obsessed. Don't worry about
it as your coffee improves they complain less. Finally they, come over to
the dark side too. It's the nature of the beast. You mention you drink
Americanos. That is the biggest clue. Get a good grinder first. Perfect your
roasting technique with cheaper roasters. When you really understand the
basics (that comes fairly quickly) of roasting move up to a more expensive
roaster. Now be prepared spend the rest of your life learning the art of
roasting and blending.

I told my wife that at my age I either needed a mistress or a sports
car (I got a Lotus). That logic has served me well for other things,
like grinders, espresso machines and coffee roasters.

There are a couple of answers to that question: 1) you have set the
listserver to not send you your messages. 2)possible gmail feature
One of the gmail apostles will be here to help you with #2.

Darn, I had a dentist appointment this morning and have missed all of
the fun. Gmail bites again.... And, yes Virginia, you do get what you
pay for.
And no, I do not have a problem with free software. I use Ubuntu,
FireFox, Thunderbird, and Open Office among others. I do have a problem
with any software that does not work as advertised or other software.
can you say Vista?
My Kenya Ruiru roast in the Behmor has turned out just fine.

I fixed it, I think. I will know in a minute, I guess. I subscribed with
my office email address (this one) and set the gmail subscription not to
send any mail to me. I had it set to send me my posts, but it wouldn't do
it.
