That's pretty cool looking material. Now all you have to do is start turning
bindies and installing them on Pelikan pens.
Ken.

3) From: miKe mcKoffee
Too much time on your hands, no. Very nice! Figure out how to make one
showing roasted whole beans and I'll take two or three! Then again even if
not possible with whole beans maybe a set of three: one at a very light
brown cinnamon roast, one medium brown City/City+, one dark brown FC+/Light
Vienna. That would be a cool pen set.
Seriously. Hmmm, what would a half dozen run if interested in selling them,
could be a nifty item to offer at the Kafe. (Like I have much space for
stuff as it is, but there's always a way if it's coffee cool enough:-)

Well,
I'm more than a little surprised by the interest my project has has
spawned. It looks like I am going to have to do a run of these after
all! However, I am a little hesitant to use Tom's list as a vehicle
to sell a non SM product and I did not post this with that idea in mind.
What I will likely do though, is make some available in a couple
weeks on a site such as etsy.com. If you are interested, let me know,
so I can know how many to build, then, I'll let you know when I have
them available, and other juicy details like price etc... This is not
a commitment on your part, I just want to know what the interest is.
If it is OK with our host, I'll also post a message here in the
future letting you know that they are available.
BTW, I will probably do a couple of roast levels, but nothing much
above FC+. If I won't drink it, I won't sell it. Also, at this point,
I think I need a name. How about "Shade Grown Pens"? Works for me.
Thanks everyone!
Dennis

Now obviously I know what a Pelikan pen is, but even after googling
'bindies' I'm still lost! I think that you are probably not talking
about some Austrailian thorny weed!

If I could figure out how to show a whole bean that would be
fantastic, maybe I could do some sort of finial, but that's too
flashy for my style. I was thinking about doing different roast
levels (scaa standard?). Green may be nice as well. I'll play around
with it.

"Bindes" are the colored tubular sheathes covering the barrels of
Pelikan pens. The more expensive Souverain (300, 400, 600, 800. 1000)
line uses striped bindes (green, brown, blue, honey, red) made of long
strips of celluloid; the 250 and below use marbled acrylic.
