Mike, I managed to get 3 pounds of your green high grown Kona. What I would
love is a profile. This will be roasted in a commercial roaster. My guess
is that others would also love to have your help on profiles on other type
roasters as well. Lets face the stuff is like gold and I don't want to ruin
it. Also am I correct in thinking that you would roast JBM THE SAME WAY?
Thank You

The JBM is not the same coffee as any Kona, in the same way that two
different Kona origins are not equal.
The day any artistic roaster just profiles the roast of a new lot of beans
the same as a previous lot of the same origin- like bread slices in a
toaster- is prima facie evidence that you can now go ice skating in Hell.

OK my friend I still need to have some ideas on roasting the JBM. This year
the JBM coffee we will have to sell and drink ourselves has heavy chaff on
it so that needs watched. Next year we will have more equipment, this year
its by hand. The beans are high altitude in the very heart of the official
JBM area. The JBM I did roast was close. I roasted it light to get as much
origin as possible. I could taste deep berry and as it cooled tobacco was
very present. I will be roasting in the next few days along with the Kona
for the Easter holiday.

I'm not roasting the Mtn Thunder XF like I would JBM or most other Konas for
that matter. It's about the largest bean and highest elevation Kona I've
roasted out of at least a couple dozen Konas the last 7 years. It actually
likes just a touch of 2nd crack IMO and stated about as much where the green
was available. I target 1st @ 10min and EOR around 14 in our USRC 3k.
BTW, if the Thunder is Gold then I've got a Platinum batch roasting at the
moment!
(Panama Gesha of course:-)

Ray,
I live about ten miles from Hell and the skating season is just coming to an
end there.
I do agree about the Kona profile, though.

Thanks, I'm roasting in the morning for Easter. I hope that will be enough
rest. My son was in Kona for a year and loved it. This will make his day.
I will let you know how I did.
