Topic: Zass Grinder Update (53 lines)
1) From: Joe Screnock
Greetings.
An update on my Zass problem from around a month ago. For those who
weren't here then, or "disremember" (love that word - thanks Ray!), here
is what I posted:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
For some unknown reason, when I open the lid of my grinder, there is a
metal "tab" that is protruding from underneath. It is preventing the
lid from closing tightly, and I can't seem to move it out of the way. I
have no idea what it is for or why it suddenly appeared.
It might be used to allow the lid to "snap" closed - and stay closed. If
so, where should it be placed? I can't seem to bend it down enough to
catch the lid.
If it makes any difference, it happened during some (seemingly)
unrelated maintenance where I had the grinder upside down, and the burrs
were run through their entire range of motion (adjustment screw moved
from fully clock-wise to fully counter-clock-wise, and back).
------------------------------------------------------------------------
I finally took the grinder apart and found that there is indeed a tab
that is attached to underside of the hopper. Actually it is a stamped
(steel?) piece that has two tabs, one on each side of the shaft. It
looks like it was moved when I performed maintenance on the grinder the
last time. This time, however, it wouldn't budge. I eventually bent
one tab out of the way, and the other tab moved in the way, but now is
in such a position that the lid closes again.
So, I'm not sure what happened, or why it wasn't working, but it is now.

Thanks for all the advice - public and private.
(Barry, I will remove the offending pic soon.)
Joe
