1) From: Dennis & Marjorie True
Hello all,
This is a follow up and sad news for all the dog lovers out there
that have been so supportive Some of you may remember that last April My
Dog, Lady ended up with some of the poison dog food. Well at 8:24 this
evening we had to put her to sleep due to total kidney failure. The
vets were miracle workers in giving Lady this past year, but her 17 y/o
body just gave out and it was her time.
In Mourning for the greatest dog that ever lived My Lady!

Dennis and Marjorie, may Lady's memory be for a blessing--I am so
sorry that she had to suffer, especially considering the bitter irony
that the staff of life ended up stealing her life. But at 17 years
she lived an exceptionally long life for a dog (that's old even for a
cat) and I hope you can cherish the memories of the joy she brought
you. She's at the Rainbow Bridge now (yeah, even a cynic like me
believes that!), living forever and eating as much as she wants now,
with pleasure her only result. Long live Lady.

We just lost Ditto, our companion of 15 years, and we miss her every day.

6) From: Lynne
Oh, Dennis, I am so, so sorry for your loss. It is wonderful you had her for
17 yrs - but that won't ease the pain of losing the companion you both loved
so much, especially as a result of poisoned food.
May the both of you be comforted by the wonderful memories you had with your
Lady, and the fact that you had the extra time with her, because of some
very good vets.
Lynne

I'm sorry for your loss, Dennis. I echo Sandy's comments about
cherishing her memory. We lost our Spike last year, and I still miss
him terribly, but my thoughts have turned more to remembering the fun
times and less of the feeling of loss. Time heals.

My heart goes out to you. I started feeding our two dogs a special
homemade diet last summer when all the dog food scares started
happening (and still do). I have had a couple of friends lose their
best friends lately and, well, words just kind of fail me at this
point. I'm terribly sorry for you and your family.

Im sorry to hear about your dog dennis. 17 Years though, that is a
long time for a dog, she had a good long life with people who cared for
her and made sure she was loved and taken care of.
It's always hard to put down a pet, especially one you really have
gotten attached to, but knowing in your heart that *that* specific
animal had a better life than most others because you took care of them,
helps heal the pain a bit. I know I get all upset when one of my
lizards die on me, even though most of them ( I take in rescues) I know
have a really bad chance of surviving.
Are you going to get another dog? IF so, the rescue centers have some
really great dogs for adoption and you can give another pet a better
life then. The greyhound rescue centers have some really great dogs too.

Dennis sorry to hear about your loss and enjoyed the pictures. As a proud

15) From: Dennis & Marjorie True
ever since the bad dog food she has had chicken breasts and rice for the
last year that we cooked I don't trust canned food....
the vets said that we did good with her and they expressed surprise that
she lasted as long as she did (they initially didn't think she would
make it a week when it was first discovered)
she spent a week in the hospital and they got her creatin and bun levels
back to a reasonable level she came home with us and from then on she
ate like a queen every day (yes we have actually eaten her food too...LOL)
Having the last year was such a miracle in and of itself and we were so
blessed to have had her in our lives... we got her from the SPCA Feb 15
2002 (the same day I got promoted) the last 6 years were wonderful with
her she was so smart and had such a personality I can't even explain it
to someone that never met her but every one that did meet her fell in
love with her....

Dennis and Marjorie,
I'm very sorry for your loss. That's rough. We too had to put our Lucky to
sleep last month. He was also 17 (or maybe 18) and he'd been living with
chronic kidney failure for years (not due to the pet food problem).
My thoughts are with you,
Kris McN
