Barry and Bob,
Thanks for the responses regarding the Behmor.
It looked very reminiscent to the Alpenrost and was rejected immediately out of hand for that reason. I do see that there is a windowed door to it and an interior light. The point (in the review of the Behmor) about voiding the warranty going too long after the seconed crack is disturbing, however darker roasts are not my cup of .......
15 years ago I kept copius notes on roasting times and results...I have lost all of those. They were with
hot air popper, FreshRoast and the Alpenrost. I love the control that one has with home roasting.
Suffice it?to say, home roasters know what they want and are not afraid to put forth the effort to attain it. Control freaks maybe, particular absolutely.
Thanks again, that will be the direction I will go. Behmor it is.
If there are any other thoughts out there please let me know, as I intend on ordering the unit on Thursday.
thanks,
Dave

I started with a popper, wore out a Hearthware Precision (or )a
Hearthware Gourmet, Alpenrost, two 'wb' (West Bends short lived
entry). Also used a Fresh Roast (original model).
Now I'm using Behmor. Quiet, clean, predictable, etc..... Much
better than the Alpenrost.
