Both of these current threads are great.
Here is a small contribution, kept simple.
Coffee: Sumatra Gayo Mountain organic special. Roasted as recommended in
Behmor, 10 oz, B, P3. Rested for three days and ground a bit coarser
than drip.
Brewers: AP and Bialetti Moka pot 6T. Same amount of coffee and same
amount of water for each. Two minutes in the AP and a steady passage
through the Moka.
Comments. This is _not_ one of my favored coffees but like all
homeroast is miles (or kilometers) beyond "elsewhere". It is
distinctive and definitely exhibits what the French would call
"terroir"- exhibiting characteristics of its geographical origins. I
will not use the various terms that true Tasters employ, just my own.
Both cups had the aforementioned specific taste of this coffee. The AP
was less "bright" (what I mentally call "acid") than the Moka pot brew.
That alone was the difference to my taste. Mouth feel, aftertaste etc
were essentially the same. So.....for this coffee I will give the AP
the nod by a teeny bit since acid (bright) coffee is not to my
particular taste. Bernard Gerrard
