Topic: Now that's good coffee! (One man's garbage is another (37 lines)

Just got around to trying the IMV three days post roast. SCGG, 44F Ambient,
9:45 full 1st crack and EOR at eleven minutes. Some of the beans did not
expand as much as I normally like to see. Surely this is a true City roast
since it had clearly finished 1st and got nowhere near 2nd crack.
This is wonderful stuff out of the French Press. Blueberries are strong in
the aroma and it is also very fruity flavorful, powerful with nice lingering
citrus / anise hint of tobacco in the aftertaste. I'm writing this an hour
after drinking it am still trying to figure out the flavors I'm finding on
my lips.
Olfactory memory is strong. Reminds me a bit of the first time I got off the
boat at the Panajachel dock in San Pedro La Laguna, Guatemala. I was
assaulted with what I took to be a powerful garbage smell of rotten fruit.
It was a warm mid February afternoon and coffee processing was underway at
the mills just upwind of the dock. The pulpy flesh from the coffee beans was
piled high to rot and the odor was almost overwhelming. (Eventually this
mass of organic waste would become compost and be returned to the soil in
nearby gardens). Well, there is a bit of that smell in this cup. If my only
experience of it had been rotten fruit on its way to the home compost pile,
I might have been put off by it. Since I have many fond memories of San
Pedro and have returned several times since that first visit, this
flavor/aroma complex is most welcome. I'm glad I bought two pounds instead
of just one. I'd get more but I'm in stash reduction mode and I am
disciplined. I am disciplined. I am disciplined. I am disciplined. I am
disciplined. I am disciplined. I am disciplined.

So it is written. I read it on the Internet. It has to be true...I wrote it!
