Vac pot Vac pot Vac pot.....
Ok that settles it I'm having my wife get me a Vac pot for my birthday
in May
So which one do I get? Is the Cona worth it or should I just go with the
Yama with a glass rod (something about the filter cloth dosen't really
appeal to me) but I'm clueless about vac's I need some inputs from the
group....
Dennis

To me the only variable between Vacuum pots is the type of insert. The
inserts (filters) seem interchangeable. The rest is aesthetics.

The only thing I would be aware of, is if you grind too fine, or steep
too long, you get an over-extracted bitterness. Experiment a bit to
get the grind and time right. That might go without saying ... But I
said it anyways! ;-)
Done right, it's my new favorite way of brewing coffee.

Here's what you want!!
Do a search for "Royal Coffee Maker"
They show a nice set at 15% off MSRP. That brings it down to only $1,995.00.
What a deal! If that one isn't up to your standards, I see another
at $2,295.00.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Hey Dennis,
For Christmas, my wife got me a Yama from Sweet Maria's and some Cory Glass
Rods from ebay and I love the brew. Great coffee!

If anyone is interested, I saw a aluminum Abco vac pot with Cory rod in it
at an antique shop.
It was pretty well used, and the gasket was super loose. So I passed-- it's
metal and I wouldn't brew in it.
Still someone might like it for display purposes, $10 plus tax and shipping
and paypal charges if anyone wants me to grab it for them...
I made my first vac last night, in my Cory.
First one was weak. Didn't drain well-- I put the top on after the bottom
was already heating up and it did not seal well.
Second one, I did by Tom's guide and it was extremely strong but excellent
decaf Panama Carmen Estate. It was put on the fire all at once and brewed up
and drained down excellently.
Once I get this down I'll be set to have a brew off.
Lots to learn...

I'm in the same category, and I wish I could find another glass Vaculator
for the purpose.
If I get an espresso machine with a buzzer for a pump, I'll plumb two pumps
in parallel and wire the solenoid coils 180 out of phase.
Same pressure, 2X the maximum flow rate and 2X the pulsation rate. I'm not
really serious about coffee, just improving it.
Cheers, Mabuhay -RayO, aka Opa!
