Topic: My first botched Behmor roast (26 lines)

Well, it had to happen sometime:  was jonesing for some decaf espresso  
so I could play with my new espresso machine without significant  
insomnia. Had only the old stuff I keep around for sink shots after  
machine cleanings, so I figured I'd mix some up from my remaining  
decafs. Did about half a lb.--50% Brazil Mogiana WP, 30% Java, and the  
rest equal parts of Ethiopia SWP and Ethiopia Sidamo.  Hit 1 lb., and  
then just "on." Bad move. About 8 minutes in I smelled the smoke, and  
hit "cool" just in time to keep the smoke detector from shrieking.  
(Well, I also threw open the windows and doors and turned on the range  
hood).  Amazingly, I produced perfect shiny charcoal without a single  
flame!  Second batch (abt. 6 oz.), done at 1/2 lb., P3, 3 min. added,  
hit a nice rolling second crack and I cooled it about 30 sec. into the  
added time. Nice FC+ was the result. Unfortunately, my heartburn has  
flared up (forgot to pack my Protonix last night and had to make do  
with Zantac & Tums) so I probably will shut off the machine and hit  
the hay.....once the Protonix kicks in....
