Well you're right as usual Mike. I'll have to be more precise than "most"
when I speak to you, which meant most of the platforms people discuss and
use here, certainly not all platforms. These are the platforms most people
use, or at least on this list it seems. As for the commercial roaster, well
most of us could only dream about that. We're homeroasters. But such a
roaster is like the $4.5M house I worked in last fall: even if somebody gave
me such a house, I couldn't afford to turn it on or pay the property taxes;
same with a commercial roaster, you have to be able to use lots of coffee
and have a 10lb batch to justify firing it up.
The split batch idea works great if you have a method that allows it. I find
that the WP works well at this, very easy, very affordable, but I'd only
recommend it if you have a gas burner. I have IR2 and it definitely won't
split roasts. As for HG/DB/BM method, I can't get enough heat out to do a
full lb, i.e., enough beans to split. Ditto with AirPooper.
I split a batch with the both the Yemeni Shirasi and Ismaili at C and FC and
the melanges tastes great.
If ya'll haven't tried it, it works. Of course, you could just do two
separate roasts on "most" platforms, but this cuts time in half, especially
doing a triple split to experiment with roast degree.

So seems a bunch of roasting platforms could easily split roast finish.
Behmor no. IR I believe no. Gene, unsure. Grill/Drum, doubt it in most cases
but believe a couple people's drum designs could.
