Topic: Coffee Additives (other than cream & sugar) (7 msgs / 167 lines)

(This is my first post, so hello everyone!)
I have always said that people who use cream and sugar don't really like 
the taste of coffee.  Or they're covering up the brackish taste of 
crappy coffee.
But I occasionally like to throw a couple cardamom pods into the 
grinder, or a pinch of cinnamon.
What other additives do folks here use?

I always use sugar/splenda. I don't see that as not liking the taste of coffee.  I liken it to cocoa...tastes better to me with sugar. Welcome.

Suggesting that folks who use cream and/or sugar in coffee dont really  
"like" coffee, is a bit too snobish...even for a fellow coffee  snob. Its all about 
preference. A little cream and a touch of sugar  added to a thick rich 
Sumatran is better then any treat on the planet  :)

Now you'll hear the din of inequity from a group of rugged individualists
trying to tune up their palates. Me, too. Usually though, I just put coffee
beans in my grinder. I wouldn't know how to grind the other stuff.
I agree, the real flavor of coffee is overshadowed by the overwhelming
amendments like syrups, bovine lactate and sugars. Every facet of the cup
can be riding the Archimedes Spiral, but the familiar gunk survives it all.
Soon, they will discretely ask if they should leave "room" for their
granulated coal...
