Topic: a prize in my beans (12 msgs / 231 lines)
1) From: Rose Pietrasz
Hello...I usually just read mail on this list as I still consider myself
just a baby roaster and I usually have nothing to contribute.
Until today.
I just roasted a small bit of some left over Ethiopia FTO Yirgacheffe I
found in the back of my cabinet. When I poured out the beans to cool, I
found a gold-plated, butterfly earring in with my beans! Just like in a box
of cracker jacks.
Just had to share it with others who could appreciate it.
:-)

In the bread machine, the beans were becoming the straw color when I noticed
a yellow one.
HG, BM Off.
Go fishing-
1 ea. Corn kernel, yellow, whole, unpopped.
The only "miscellany" ever received from SM.

That sure would have wreaked havoc with your grinder. Good catch!
Too bad it's only gold plated.

I've found a few stones (with the stones from Allon will be added to my
patio soon).
But guess what I found in my Qishr? A coffee bean! Oooo. Think I should
roast it? Actually, a friend grabbed it and will try to sprout it. I think
there might be another one in the bag.

yes - it would be ideal to plant that coffee bean, especially if it
is still in the skin of the cherry. might need some soaking first to
soften the shell. remember, it takes 60 - 90 days to see a sprout!
Now the gold butterfly earring is amazing. that is certainly from
ethiopia unless jacob is secretly wearing earrings while filling
coffee (unlikely).

Wouldn't it be amazing if that earring could find its way back to its
owner accompanied by the story of where it went and how it got back...
It is a small world. Long shot but it might be possible.

It was buried in the beans - could this be a case of smuggling!?! Or at
least petty smuggling :-?

"...this be a case of smuggling!?!" It Certainly Is!
This borders on the sick bird (ill egal) situation -
If I'm caught with this fabulous shot of Monkey blend in a few more minutes,
it'll be my Sunday morning First Shot.
And I did monkey with it just for grins. Added 10g of monsooned Malabar gold
to 75g of the Monkey blend, on the way to V+. Gorgeous sweaty beans, maybe
an hour's sleepy time before the serious business got under way.
16:44 roast, just nursing some snaps behind Door #2. Espresso is just a
figure of speech, after 9 seconds of pre-infusion.soak. Then step on it for
a couple of mountain streams of Crema!
Aha! It's now tomorrow, and I've done it. Monkey blend, and I did monkey
with it.
Cheers, Mabuhay -RayO, aka Opa!
It's the Grinder, silly.
