Roasted 2 batches Sumatra Classic Mandheling on Thursday night, one FC, one
FC+. blended together. Put 2 in 1/2 lb bags to give as gifts, kept one lb
for me.
let rest until this afternoon, sunday. just a shy short of 72 hrs rest.
Brewed with the FP... holy cow. Absolutely amazing. I'll brew some in the
morning and report again, but it was a delicious cup of coffee, great body,
excellent aftertaste. Seemed like bittersweet chocolate, absolutely great.
Hopefully tomorrow I'll have more detailed things to say about it.
Anybody had any of this?

Hey Bill,
The Sumatra Classic Mandheling is excellent and thoroughly enjoyable.
My notes from a previous batch:
The aroma suggests earth / forest floor, a hint of chocolate, or maybe
cocoa, stirred once with a cinnamon stick.
In the cup, with 5 days rest, there is great body with tremendous
depth and presence, a bit dry down the center of the tongue. The
earthiness carries through into the cup but is ensconced in the dark
chocolate and sweetened with smooth, creamy caramel.
As the cup cools, the body intensifies to a delightfully oily, almost
waxy mouthfeel with hints of fruit sweetness that linger on the
palate.
Awesome cup of Sumatra.
Any one else enjoy this or similar?

Eddie, thanks for the info. I noticed that you have the older crop, which I
enjoyed a lot last fall. I am only just starting to get into my stash of
this new crop, which arrived Jan 08. Tom wrote this about this cup: "I
really enjoy the depth and balance of this cup, qualities that I haven't
enjoyed this much in a Grade One Mandheling for while."
So anyway, hope you don't have too much of last year's Mandheling, because
my (limited) experience of this coffee is that it really rocks, and you
might want to get some of this stuff. Wow.
Thanks for your notes, I'm enjoying a cup outta the FP right now... I'll
compare your cupping notes to what I'm tasting... My taste explanation
skills are still really primitive...
thanks

I have ZERO Sumatra Mandheling left! I enjoy these so much and I will
have to include some more on some upcoming orders. I am thinking of
ordering some of the Sumatra Organic Mandheling too.
Has anyone tried the Sumatra Organic Mandheling?

If you haven't tried it, the Sumatra Lintong Special Prep. currently offered
is among the best Indonesians I have tried. I have to admit I don't
normally like this origin that much, put picked up a one-pounder on Tom's
recommendation, and was amazed by it.
