So there I was this afternoon: after making an Americano and two
cappas with Monkey, I was staring (to my dismay) at the empty hopper
of my Mazzer--no more left of that batch of Monkey and my latest batch
is only at day +1. The Donkey was ready, but I still needed some
caffeinated 'spro. Looked in the canisters--bag of Pike Place,
roasted 4/08 (pretty good stuff when brewed a little weaker than in-
store, but not for espresso); and 1/2 lb. each of IMV and Sumatra Org
Mandheling, both roasted last Friday. Shrugged my shoulders and
grabbed a couple of fistfuls of each of the latter two, threw them
into a bowl, mixed them up and put them in the hopper. Forgot about
it; went off to Metropolis to get some Redline that was at day +3 to
tide me over. The jones got too strong about 15 min. ago and I
couldn't help myself--La Cora was calling me. So I preheated a china
tulip espresso cup and pulled a double ristretto of my Misty
Mandheling (Sumatriopia? Ethiomatra?) into it.
Ohhhhhhhh.............myyyyy.......you get the rest. Incredible.
Chocolate, caramel, earthy, and blueberry, Beautiful dappled deep
bronze crema. Gone too soon. Alas, time to switch to Donkey or I'll
never get to sleep......

My favorite blend (of which I have too little experience!), a modified
mokha-java. I don't do espresso yet, but I really like them in a FP. Yum!
 thanks for sharing Sandy!bill

I knew the "oh.... my..." was coming before I got there reading! Misty
Mandheling has the ring, forget the other two:-)
This evening had a couple wow shots myself. Finally have our 4 grinder model
in place ready to go "on line" in the morning. After closing the Kafe downed
the Linea to install a water filter in a sink cold water line which is on
the same water line as the Linea. Then brought the Linea back up. Brew
boiler had cooled to 160f and came back up to temp while flushing the cold
water tap's new filter. First dialed in tomorrow mornings SO Kona grinder
with Kona Mountain F espresso offering, a totally yummy silky smooth rich
shot. Then dialed in the other SO grinder with WP Yirgacheffe Kochere. Now
this won't be for everyone, but anyone who now and then enjoys those dark
chocolate orange "balls" from England that break into segments would swoon.
Not really orange, but similar overall taste profile, syrupy sweet citrus
floral dark chocolaty nectar. Sinsational SO shot for this acid head, and
know it'll make killer machs, caps etc. too.

I was in a similar predicament today, however I ended up with Misty
Yellow Bourbon Valley.
Then I pulled a shot of Yemen Mokha Sana'ani. Mmmm.
