Topic: kenya & sumatra (2 msgs / 49 lines)

Have some kenyan gethumbwini PB that i over-roasted in the freshie to
FC/FC+. Anyway, I mixed it with some sumatra for a FP this afternoon.
10 g Sumatra Classic Mandheling FC/FC+
10 g Sumatra aged lintong C+
10 g Kenya FC/FC+
Pretty darn tasty. The kenyan was over-roasted so not as bright as it could
have been, but it was a balanced cup. I'm curious, I can't recall seeing
anyone posting about mixing kenyans with anything else. So, anyone mixing
kenyans with something?

IIRC we had a fairly lengthy thread a few years back about a particular
Sumenya or was it Kenyatra? That said Kenya isn't an origin I usually
blend. In truth I usually don't blend! Or didn't until a couple years ago
began developing espresso blends. My rule of thumb agrees with Tom: know the
Single Origins well first before venturing into blending. Then when blending
have a flavor goal in mind. Which isn't to say just tossing a bunch of
random beans together can't produce a spectacular cup! (But might be tough
to reproduce if you really like it if you don't actually know what the heck
went into the mutt blend:-)
