Topic: Timer for espresso machine (4 msgs / 88 lines)
1) From: Jim Gundlach
I finally found a timer to run the Andreja. All the ones I could
find locally were limited to 1250 watts or less, this one on eBay is
rated at 1800 watts. This seller also supplies instructions written
by a past customer that are much, much better than the ones supplied
by the manufacturer. If interested it is item 200220462003 you might
try making a best offer of $15.50, that with $7.50 shipping and
handling brings the price down to what a 1250 watt one costs in the
local hardware store - not to mention saving gas and time. I only
used one of the eight program slots and set it to come on at 5:30 and
to turn off at 18:00 everyday of the week and last night before going
to bed I topped off the water tank and turned on Andreja's main
switch. This morning at 5:50 it was warmed up and ready to produce
espresso. I checked it when the dogs wanted to go out at 2:30 and it
was still off. I have only had it for one day so I cannot vouch for
longevity but I like not having to wait for the Andreja to warm up in
the morning. For my wife, it makes no difference, she wakes up when I
deliver the coffee and turn on NPR. But, it gets me going a good 20
minutes earlier in the morning.

Indeed timer on a home espresso machine a very good thing. Wake up, stumble
out and pour da beans in da grinder, build and pull da shot and wait for
your eyes to catch up and focus later:-) Had Silvia come on via 20A
Appliance X10 module for about 3 years. The Bric' has been running on the
same module for another over 2&1/2 years. The only time recently the timer
has "failed me" was if I woke up and then got up unplanned for some ungodly
reason before 4:30am!

Been using X-10 >20 years.
It's great having lights just coming on as I get up.
Locks down the garage a few minutes after I leave.

Or ~30A worth of outdoor Christmas display going on and off all at once
automatically;-) Use multiples with various timings for various lights and
stereo when on vacation etc. Been using X10's a couple decades plus myself,
since first heard about them from Drew. (DAK of course)
Just made sense to grab a module and use with Silvia.
