Topic: Coffee in Malta (6 msgs / 115 lines)
1) From: F.R. Parth
So I got to Malta yesterday to go to a convention. I rented a condo to get away from the big hotels, and found the condo doesn't have internet access. But most of the little pastry/coffee cafes along the harbor do. I set up my computer for wifi access and went to the bar to order a cappuccino. It's Italy, right? Good capos.
There was a hand-printed sign on the Cimballi machine that said: "Make sure coffee coming down is brown". Sure enough, the kid operating the machine titled the cup to make sure the coffee coming out was brown. The extraction went about 10 seconds.
Is that's what's been wrong with my capos! The coffee coming out is supposed to be brown!

No, actually, Malta is not Italy. It is Malta, a separate country.
Italy had custody at times, but so did the Turks, the Crusaders, the
French and a bunch of other people.
Be well,

Very interesting... Like Turkish coffee, Maltese coffee is unique.
 Apparently, it's BROWN!!! Who knew???
And how was the brown brew? I bet it was horrible! How many more days for

One of those quaint European customs. My father said it was easy to tell who
was in charge, just ask the guys pointing their guns at you. He was
personally acquainted with several counties' armament.

Franco period. I get paranoid every time I see patent leather (even
if it isn't a hat) whether an Uzi is associated with it or not. The
Guardia Civil seems to have had absolute authority and permission to
ventilate anything and anyone that they felt like - - anytime.
My taste in coffee wasn't as mature as I like to think it is now.
Even then, the beans they pulled shots from reminded me of my Weber
back in the states. It made Navy coffee taste mellow and sweet in
comparison.
