Topic: New coffees at SM, and Tom recommends milk! (6 msgs / 112 lines)

A new coffee with a great write-up at Sweet Maria's:http://www.sweetmarias.com/coffee.robusta.html#Panama_Guyami_RobustaIt's a robusta that he says can go as drip or french press. Its processed
with a creek.
And Tom says that half and half is pretty good with it.
Go figure. Sounds pretty good. I'd better put a pound or 2 in the next
time I order!

It never fails. I place an order and within a day or two, there are new
coffees. :)

Tom mentions milk again in the Colombia Tolima write up.
Maybe some of Ben's whole milk is finding its way into something more than a
cerael bowl. ;-D

Great - thanks for "outing" me on the half and half recommendation.
the fact is, it needs some sweetening and i tried a small amount as
an iced coffee with a little whole milk - it really balanced out the
aggressive-yet-pleasant bitter notes ... and probably one of the
first times i have put milk in coffee in a year (i do remember
putting some in some truckstop robusta coffee I was served in india)
The panama guyami coffee is incredible - it sounds like coffee from
another century, washed in a creek, hand-pulped onto canvas for
drying, paddled in tiny amounts down river in a canoe, transferred to
a bigger boat, offloaded at another port onto a public bus ... and 8
hours later arriving at the dry mill. it's so remote, you need
daniel-boone skills to get it out of the place.
of course, none of that makes it anything but robusta coffee, but i
found the cup interesting, and to be able to brew a robusta as a
french press coffee is a great compliment.

Sorry for "outing" you, Tom!! But yeah, it was so unusual I knew that you
truly meant it. And I agree with Seth... I put an order in on Tuesday nite,
it'll be in Cheyenne on Monday. And I would definitely have loved to put
some of the Panama robusta in there. And after reading Bernard's link to
the Rwanda story in the Washington Post, I want to try some of that coffee,
too! Dang, that's the thing that I truly do dislike about Sweet Marias: too
many excellent coffees, too little time!!!
Thanks Tom!
