HE DID IT!
Tony took first place at the Walleye Open in mixed saber, defeating his
nemesis 15-14. A hard fought, anxiety producing, gut churning battle.
Perfect for the final bout of a match. He won all of his pool bouts and
took the 2 direct elimination and the final bout. Hitting on all
cylinders today.
The mother of Tony's nemesis became my latest client last week. She uses
a "low-end" espresso machine for lattes and such. I sold her a Sumatra
Classic Mandheling, roasted to FC. She loved it. She estimates she'll
need a pound every week and a half. Even after my son beat hers. I'll
introduce her to some os SM's espresso blends and she was interested in
the Yemens.
Still working on videos and pictures. Will get them up soon.

Congratulations. I know how it feels. My son won several national and
world championships in Canoing. What I especially appreciate is that
the competitors have become the greatest of friends. Glad to read of
your cordial relation with the competitor's parent. Competition should
be a win-win situation.

Thanks. Our sons have been fencing each other for two years. Ruth and I
(and the kids) know that the results could be different next time
(although Tony is going to work hard to keep Taylor "where he
belongs!"). The people at this club and in the area fence each other
regularly, so friendships develop. And sportsmanship is alive and well.
Very, very few bad apples.
Tony is going to wind down for the summer (light training). This was his
last tournament until fall, so it was real nice to finish the season
with a win.
Had the last of the Liquid Amber (Vienna roast) from a mokha pot a while
ago to celebrate. The Ethiopia Yirgacheffe (city to city plus) tomorrow
morning is going to taste sweet!
