My friends finally did it...sneaked off to the Justice of the Peace. Got certified. So, I gave them the big 10 cup Chemex for a wedding gift that I'd been holding in anticipation of the event. Man, do these things make clear coffee! At their announcement/housewarming party yesterday afternoon we drank many pots of Mexican Organic Oaxaca WP Decaf that I had roasted C+ & FC for them on Thursday. What surprised me was the lightness of the color in the cup compared to the fullness of the flavor and great mouthfeel. It looked weak but was not. This morning I brewed three cups of CR-T-La Minita, FC+, in my 6 cup Chemex. This time the color was there. I presume it is from the slightly darker roast. Might not have noticed the light color yesterday if we hadn't been drinking from clear glass cups. Oh, and nobody dissed the decaf! -- Paul Helbert Prepackaged, roasted & ground coffee,,, Some of the worst ideas since sliced bread. Congratulations on your nuptials and may you find the best of times. Last time I did it I invited the JP to the house. After accepting our thanks and gratuity for his pronouncements he snuck into the back yard and chummed up with the pass-around smokers. It must have provided some sort of cosmic clarity in the greater sense of it all as the union still survives eighteen years later. Cheers. |
Not us. But I'll pass the congratulations along. Our wedding was 39 years ago, more or less, and it had to be as her mother directed (in spite of her father's suggestion that we just take the money it all was costing and elope). Our friends who were honored were having part one of their announcement parties. This was the non-spirited version. We get to go to the spirited party as well. Mostly different crowds but there will be good coffee, good friends and lots of laughter at both gatherings.
