I bought a Behmor a few months ago, and I love it - much better than the
IRoast (version 1) and the Nesco air roasters I had used. Now I can
actually hear the cracks!
Viewing the beans as they roast was a problem because of the reflections
off of the drum and chaff collector. Instead of cutting holes in the
chaff collector, or using chemical baths to darken the metal, I just got
a can of flat black spray paint (high-temp, for barbecues) and sprayed
the outside of the chaff collector. I ran a few "empty" runs on the
Behmor to make sure the paint was cured, and now I can see the color of
the roast much better.
Love this discussion. Al
