We're spending the weekend with some good friends at their vacation home in Sunriver OR. (Don't let
the name fool you, it snowed 6 inches last night and is still coming down....)
We brought our eSantos Vac brewer, Solis Mulino 177 back up grinder, pint canning jars of 8
different vacuum sealed roasted beans, and Foodsaver vacuum sealer to reseal the jars. Forget our
good glass lined thermal carafe'.
First now I remember why I like the Solis Maestro grinder I got for Christmas so much better than
the Mulino. Guess I'll not use the Mulino for travel after all. The Maestro spoiled us. So much
cleaner and quieter.
Second our friends have a Kahve coffee maker with a brew into metal thermal carafe'. This morning I
brewed a full vac pot, poured two cups for Debi & I (our friends Steve & Suzi weren't up yet) and
poured the rest into the prewarmed Kahve carafe'. After finishing my first cup (Kona from
Brocksengate Estate) I poured a cup from the carafe'. Terrible! It picked up a metal flavor... Had
to dump it and brew another pot. But that's okay, second pot brewed Kenya. I like variety.
There are pros and cons to refining coffee taste buds. The cons being what we go through for a good
cup! But it's totally worth it, IMO...
