I am struck how much more caffeine there is in a cupped cup than what I get out of the aeropress, even though the latter is more coffee. I had two cupped cups, so to speak, and my stomach was rumbling and my mouth dry all morning. Two cups of aeropress don't do that. And towards the bottom of the cup, where the grounds are, definitely over extracted coffee. I would say also that the aeropress makes coffee that is smoother but a little flatter or more monochromatic in flavor, not necessarily a disadvantage. Steve Wouldn't this waste a lot of coffee? When you are cupping coffee, obviously you have to deal with the grounds themselves. Besides that, I would think that if you wanted to enjoy a whole cup of coffee, leaving the grounds in would lead to over-extraction and bitterness. -- Dave Some days...
