So what are we waiting for?! They will pay us a generous fee to help them get the millions of dollars that is rightfully theirs! Those terrible, greedy banks won't help them, so it's up to us! We, the generous and helpful folks on the SM list are the only ones who can help these poor people. We must band together and give them what they deserve. ;) S. No the List was specifically honored and offered the 'great deal'. I got no such offer on any of my other email addys. Paul, your sigtag is so true. Referring the the second part. I'd been getting my breads and pastries from a pretty decent local bakery and having the loafs sliced. Hand sliced mind you not by machine but sliced none the less. Last Wednesday morning at 6:55am while delivering the days Kristi notified me Friday (last Friday) would be the last day they serviced their wholesale accounts, shutting their doors! TWO days notice and no more breads or bagels or cinnamon rolls or huckleberry bisquits or or or. Oh boy, not enough to deal with. But no biggy, get tossed a lemon make a lemont tart! Any I'd heard about an Artisan Bread Bakery in Vancouver, Julia's Bakery, not too long ago but hadn't found the time to check them out. OBVIOUSLY MADE the TIME! Turns out Julia was Naned's mother, he's from Croatia and a true Old World Bread Artisan. Small place with fabulous breads. Today was day one using his mini ciabatta and rustic whole wheat seven grain rolls for our sandwich offerings. Checked out a bigger local bakery that many other places use, IMO air bread. They tout the list of local restaurants they service. But no thanks, high quality air bread sure but no better than the better stuff in a grocery store. No way going backwards in quality! Anyway brought in not just the mini ciabatta and rustic rolls, but his cinnamon rolls and walnut sticky buns should be illegal! Plus brought in buchtl, it's a fruit jam filled mini sweet bread loaf dustic with powdered sugar, way hummy and meal in itself. (huckleberry filled the first order, next one's will be marionberry.) Oh, miKe - it hurts whenever I hear about a bakery (a *good *one) that folds! The food (and beverage) business is tough. When I moved to this city, I discovered a tiny, wholesale bakery that specialized in ciabatta bread. Oh, the smell - heavenly. It was the best ever - turns out they were the supplier for my favorite bread that I'd been buying for years in my (previous) local Italian grocery store. Well, they made some changes - turned retail, started selling pastries (ugh - greasy and horrible, but they LOOK pretty). I've only purchased the ciabatta (half the size of the previous ones) a couple of times since I now make it myself. The last time I wasn't sure if it was me - asked my daughter if I was right about the previous texture and crumb. Yeah, before, it had nice big, irregular holes, and had a great flavor. Now it's Wonder Bread disguised as ciabatta. Sigh... sad. But I think the baker(s) have moved on to a different place here in the city. We have a couple of new bakeries, and I'm going to try to get interviews for my food blog. Good about the sticky buns & cinnamon rolls. They should be a big seller - I know they drive my family & friends nuts when I make them! Can someone forward it to me, or actually just the address it was
sent from so we can dump them.
We have been getting a lot of .ru and also yahoo addresses that are
obvuiosly spammers trying to get on the list. I'ts not a huge problem
because someone has to attempt to get on the list manually, but if
we're not careful one might slip through. I don't believe this poses
any risk, since we have all the email addresses of list members
disguised, and nobody but me has access to a "who is" function to see
all the list addresses. So if someone slips by, it means a couple
french emails until we boot them off....

Tom, I'm not sure what you mean by List email addresses being disguised. When someone posts to the List I can clearly see their email address, the "From" field shows the List addy followed by "on behalf of" with the senders email addy. The "To" field only shows the List addy not the entire List so probably not an issue since have to be on the List to receive a post with the "From" field. Very little spam has come through the List address over the years. Other than the occasional Troll of course:-) Sorry, deleted the post in question so can forward.
